After the meeting concludes, NCSBN will e-mail the electronic evaluation form, which must be completed in order to obtain CE contact hours. 4. Once we receive your electronic evaluation, NCSBN will send you an electronic CEU certificate. The deadline to complete the electronic evaluation is Friday, March 26. 5. In the last five years, the state of North Dakota has increased its efforts to satisfy the need for nurses through a “grow-your-own” process by expand- ing nursing education programs in community colleges and distance sites in rural communities. However the shortage of qualified faculty threatens to derail the process. The trend of utilization of faculty with less than a master’s degree continues. For example, this past year 26 percent of all faculty in BSN programs (including Nurse Faculty Intern [NFI] participants) held less than a master’s degree in nursing. Problem Statement Qualified applicants are being turned away from nursing education programs by the thousands, in part because of a shortage of quali- fied educators to teach them (AACN, 2003).

Review Public Statement from 2005 DA Resolution The Board discussed the proposed Public Statement based on the 2005 Delegate Assembly resolution. The Board approved the proposed document, “Nursing Regulation and the Interpretation of Nursing Scopes of Practice” as revised. The document will be distributed to Member Boards and placed on the NCSBN Website. Item G.11. Board Self- Assessment Recommendations [Executive Session] The Board entered into executive session to discuss the recommendations for effective governance from the July Board self-assessment process. Item G.12. External Meeting Assignments The Board finalized the calendar for board member attendance at external organization meetings.
