All of these ads are targeted. We're trying to reach health care consumers, those stakeholders and, of course, lawmakers. And we are encouraging consumers that visit our website to take action through a voter voice platform to send a letter, a tweet, or a phone call to their lawmaker to express support for removing restrictions on APRNs. The advocacy side of the campaign is that we're working with existing coalition's or even in some cases, helping to build coalitions or working with newly-formed coalitions, and NCSBN is hiring a lobbyist in the state that is well-versed on state issues, and can really be an asset to the existing lobbying team that the coalition may have.

The report is to educate the public that drugs other than alcohol, including marijuana, are absorbed, distributed and eliminated from the body differently than alcohol. While BAC correlates closely with impairment, there is no such measure (e.g., THC) for marijuana that correlates with impairment. Thus, a BAC-equivalent impairment measure is not possible. This research built a persuasive case that alcohol was a significant contributor to traffic crashes. For example, in the 1950’s it was estimated that alcohol-positive drivers were involved in approximately 50 percent of fatal crashes (involving over 25,000 fatalities per year), while the latest data available shows that alcohol-related fatal crashes have declined to around 30 percent (involving over 10,000 fatalities per year).

The original NLC rule until 2018 required that a nurse had 30 days to obtain a new license if moving between party states. This subsequently changed to 90 days. The rule caused confusion: many thought a nurse had 90 days to apply. Others thought they had 90 days maximum to work in another state. This caused confusion for nurses and employers. With the current proposal a nurse has 60 days to apply in the new PSOR. The intent of the new proposal is not to locate 60- day violators, but to provide guidance for nurses. A.
