The reason, in the War of 1812, the British burned Washington and with it, they burned the collection of books at the Library of Congress, 3,000 volumes. Thomas Jefferson then sold his private collection of books to the Library of Congress, 6,400 volumes, and, of course, started collecting books again. Next time you're in D.C., if you haven't seen it, visit the Library of Congress. It's an amazing place. And there was also some other detail inside of that with particular ones. And we are recommending a more-slimmed down list, focused on authorization to conduct those activities without the detail that was in the current language and leaving the detail to go into the sections of the Acts that pertain to that particular issue.

Nurses should contact their legislators, nursing associations, and BONs in order to generate interest and legislative activity for a NLC bill to be introduced and voted upon in their state. • For more information, visit ncsbn.org/nlc, or contact nursecompact@ncsbn.org. What are some common questions and misconceptions about the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)?
