Legislation Addressing Opioid Epidemic Becomes Law | NCSBN
Site: ncsbn.org
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. The bill also expands Medicare funding to cover opioid treatment, bundled payments for care and e-health requirements. Individual states would be required to cover MAT, including methadone and counseling services, for opioid use disorders from fiscal years 2021 – 2025. States that implement PDMPs in 2019 and 2020 would be provided fully matched federal funds and be required to hold agreements with bordering states to allow provider access. In 2022, providers will be required by the state to check a patient’s prescription history through a PDMP before they could prescribe a controlled substance.

- It's easier to do in a classroom than remotely I can tell you because I've actually done small groups with 250 faculty. It's just a lot more groups. And the bad thing about that is that you can't get around to everybody especially if you're trying to visit group to group. So you really just kind of go to where they need you. But I've done group work with 250 people, so 70, it can be done. And even if you don't have time or the room, now in a COVID environment, we have to be 6 feet apart, we may have to do pair activities.

Marijuana-Impaired Driving
Site: ncsbn.org
The report is to educate the public that drugs other than alcohol, including marijuana, are absorbed, distributed and eliminated from the body differently than alcohol. While BAC correlates closely with impairment, there is no such measure (e.g., THC) for marijuana that correlates with impairment. Thus, a BAC-equivalent impairment measure is not possible.
