The program began last year when the first meeting was jointly hosted by NCSBN and the Minnesota Board of Nursing. The most recent workshop, held in conjunction with the Mississippi Board of Nursing and hosted by the Univer- sity of Mississippi’s School of Nursing, was presented April 26, 2007 in Jackson, Mississippi. About 100 participants joined the Mississippi Board of Nursing for this one-day workshop. Including the attendees from Mississippi, several other states within Area III had participants in attendance. Continuing education credit was provided through the University of Mississippi’s School of Nursing.

It has evolved into one of the leading voices of regulation across the world. NCSBN’s membership is comprised of the NRBs in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and four U.S. territories — American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands. There are three exam user members. There are also 26 associate members that are either NRBs or empowered regulatory authorities from other countries or territories. 3 The NCSBN Mission NCSBN provides education, service and research through collaborative leadership to promote evidence-based regulatory excellence for patient safety and public protection.

And so these facilities get this. Also, the nursing schools, they get the same thing. If it's, you know, whatever is appropriate for that audience. On the RN Board website, we are working on that. Right now, we have a link with West Virginia Restore because we do contract that out to another entity at this point and we have a link to West Virginia Restore and also to contact me. In 2020, NCSBN launched a research study to investigate the effect of rapid changes made in nursing education programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The “National Prelicensure RN Study: Assessing the Impact of COVID-19 on Nursing Education” is currently underway at 55 nursing education sites across 26 U.S. states. The study seeks to determine the extent to which programs changed their instructional formats due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study will then prospectively and longitudinally track over 700 prelicensure nursing students and 450 faculty to measure engagement, academic performance and early career experience.
