    Lighting and layout of the room were intricately planned to create a warm, conducive space for conversations. In December, after many staff meetings, conference calls and two face-to-face meetings, the planning for the meeting was coming to fruition. The onus of a successful meeting now was on the participants. The last task was to create a “script” for committee members, a detailed document including an hour-by-hour briefing about what was to happen and who was responsible for what. On Dec. 8, 2011, the NEC and the speakers dined together at Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant to celebrate everyone’s hard work.

So it's just a sort of digital overlay. Now, when you get into the more robust mixed reality, and these two terms tend to be used interchangeably. So you hear people say mixed reality, you'll hear them say augmented reality.
