The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. Correcting Program Code on a Candidate Level If a nursing regulatory body needs to request a change to candidate-level information (e.g., program code, graduation date) after the candidate has taken the exam, the licensing nursing regulatory body may correct the candidate-level information on the Candidate Registration Page within the Exam Administration Website . If the candidate's jurisdiction of education is different than the licensing nursing regulatory body where they applied for licensure/registration, the candidate's jurisdiction of education needs to complete the Candidate Level Change Request Form and email the completed form to ExamsIR@ncsbn.org .

Many of these programs are designed specifically to prepare practical nurses for the U.S., touting the preparedness of their students for the NCLEX examinations. The limited oversight and regulation of these programs have raised concerns. 4 Examples include receiving forged letters from the Ministry of Health. 5 The NCJ maintains a list of recognized schools for each nursing level on its website at http://www.nursingcouncil.org.jm/. 6 The MSPP maintains a list of recognized schools, also for each nursing level, on its website at http://www.mspp.gouv.ht/site/downloads/Liste%20 Ecoles%20de%20Formation%20en%20Sante%20reconnues%20par%20le%20MSPP%2011%20Mars%202014.pdf. http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/index.cfm?

Kovner and Djukic (2009) discuss some of the problems with turnover rate statistics for the newly licensed nurse. Some studies include turnover within the institution; others report their rates after developing a compre- hensive transition program. Kovner and Djukic (2009) report a 26% turnover rate in 2 years using unpublished raw data from the RN Work Project, though they do not report what part of that percentage belongs to year one. Comprehensive transition programs are associated with significantly decreased turnover rates after the programs are implemented (Beecroft et al., 2001; Halfer et al., 2008; Pine & Tart, 2007; Williams et al., 2007).
