And to establish competency and earn a point, examinees must know both x and y. The Rationale Scoring Rules apply to the drop-down rationale item types. Here, the tightly paired information is risk of developing x as evidenced by y. Examinees must correctly identify both options in order to earn a full credit of one point. That summarizes all the different new NGN item types along with the three scoring rules, the 0/1 Scoring Rule, the Plus/Minus Scoring Rule, and the Rationale Scoring Rule. Thank you for joining in today, and be sure to check out more information on our NGN website.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. Tool #12, Interview Questions for Assessment of EO Competencies, provides questions cross referenced with the EO competencies. Following the in-person interviews, top candidates should be identified. Your NRB may also have requirements for criminal background checks, credit checks, etc. Please check with the appropriate staff to ascertain these requirements as they will vary by NRB. Reference checks should be completed on top candidates. Tool #13, Reference Questions, may be utilized for the candidate’s current supervisor and anyone identified by the candidate as a reference.

If your state has a newsletter, be sure to read it; it will update you on changes or proposed changes in rules, regulations and the practice act as well as other pertinent initiatives. • Attend board of nursing meetings every so often. You can request an agenda to see if there is something that interests you. • Some boards have open forums during board meetings where nurses can dialogue with the board. • Read your board of nursing’s Web site, as there is a variety of information provided by boards. • Check to see if your board’s committee structure allows nonmembers to participate on committees and ask about the process if you’re interested in doing this. • Attend public hearings regarding the promulgation of new rules.

- [Meagie] Dr. Stanley, good morning, and thank you so much for your presentation. Meagie Bartnelli [SP] from Washington, D.C. Two quick questions. The first one is, can you speak to any specific initiatives that the AACN is doing, as you alluded to their DE&I initiatives? The second question is your thoughts around the competency-based education in our clinical acute care areas. Because we do know that education sometimes is not always the answer when nurses, even after passing their NCLEX, still continue to have clinical practice gaps.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. Video quality and support in Mozilla Firefox and older Internet browsers is limited. For the best video playback support try downloading the free Google Chrome web browser . What if the videos are slow, choppy or buffering? Check your current Internet connection speed (one site to try is speedtest.net ). You'll need a connection downloading at least 0.5 Mbps. At this speed you will likely still see some buffering; over 3 Mbps it should be minimal. Follow the steps below to reduce buffering somewhat, but note that video performance online will always be dependent on your connection speed and stability.
