It's also important to note that about 90% of APRNs would meet this requirement on day one. So let's talk advocacy. The 2021 legislative session was the first since adoption of the new APRN Compact model language. There were two introductions and two enactments in 2021. Both Delaware and North Dakota enacted the APRN Compact with nearly unanimous legislative support. This age group now represents the largest cohort of the faculty workforce, with a majority expressing intent to retire within five years. In line with other researchers’ findings (Pang et al., 2025; AACN, 2024), our team identified a persistent salary gap, that has increased to $32,000 in 2024, between similarly educated nurse faculty and non-faculty nurses. Additionally, many nursing faculty reported holding multiple positions, with some age groups (e.g., 35–44) showing notable increases in the proportion holding two or more roles. This workload distribution may reflect economic necessity, staffing shortages, or institutional reliance on part-time educators.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) produces publications, online courses and videos that contribute to the body of nursing knowledge. After completion of the TTP study in hospitals with registered nurses (RNs) published earlier in 2015, a study was conducted in nonhospital facilities with RNs and licensed practical nurses to determine if NCSBN’s TTP program could be used effectively across settings. Sites volunteering to participate, however, faced many challenges while the study was underway. This article presents the TTP program, study design, challenges faced by nonhospital sites trying to implement a TTP ...

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. A multistate license facilitates cross-border practice for many types of nurses who routinely practice with patients in other states, including primary care nurses, case managers, transport nurses, school and hospice nurses and many others. Further, military spouses who experience moves every few years also benefit greatly from the multistate license.  For more information regarding the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s implementation of the NLC, visit dos.pa.gov .
