So, that is a very important piece, actually, of the strategy, is that, how can this system help me? Well, we can develop tools and services, but for that we needed to connect with the members and that's what we did. Around 2006 to 2009 or '10, three or four years, we took the time to go and visit all the members in the country, all the jurisdictions, except for, I think, Guam or American Samoa, we had conference calls with them. They're just too far out for us to visit. So, we had a conversation with every single member. When we visited the members, we actually talked with their staff, we asked them, "What kind of tools do you really need in the system that will allow you to be more efficient?"

And we did that and we were surprised by that but then we started looking for this social contagion in other datasets. And here's a separate dataset where we collected data from 31 hospitals in the state of Michigan. This is 829 work settings and it's about 17,000 people. And here, we found an ICC for burnout of 0.26. Let me say what that means. Basically, 26% of your burnout, if you work in one of these hospitals in Michigan, 26% of your burnout is predicted by who you work with. A quarter of your wellbeing is the person to the left and the person to the right. Now, we weren't thinking that when we started this.

Midyear & Annual Meeting Planning Moving into the new year with upcoming meetings, the committee discussed many ideas and strategies to further engagement with the Awards program. With regard to drawing new members to the booth and encouraging increased nomination applications, several large points were brought up. The committee wanted to ensure that further encouragement for international members to seek out recognition is pursued, and noted that limiting recipients to one may prevent members from applying. Marketing noted that with the new awards, the committee should capitalize upon excitement and identify “giveaways” at the midyear and annual meetings.
