These background checks should be compared to the applicant’s self-disclosure on the licensure application of misdemeanors, felonies and plea agreements required by the Uniform Licensure Requirements. If there are discrepancies between the background check and licensure application information, the applicant should be questioned regarding the discrepancy, and requested to provide a full explanation of the criminal record and a police report/certified court documents for each discrepancy.

The Delegate Assembly, NCSBN's voting body, convenes during the organization's annual meeting in August. Activity includes discussion and voting on NCSBN business items and election of individuals to the Board of Directors and Leadership Succession Committee. The Delegate Assembly is composed of two representatives from each member board of nursing. Member boards are divided into four geographical areas of the nation, referred to as: Area I (West); Area II (Midwest); Area III (Southeast); and Area IV (Northeast).
