    Every two years, NCSBN conducts the largest and most comprehensive national survey of the U.S. nursing workforce. The findings provide critical insight into the demographic and practice profiles of the nation’s nursing workforce. When: April - Sept. 2026 Who: A nationally-representative sample of licensed registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs) from across the U.S. How: Surveys will be sent via email and U.S. mail. Responses returned via mail or survey platform. Why: If you're randomly selected to participate, it is critically important for you to respond since you are representing many your colleagues.

    The study is considered to be the largest and most comprehensive research study of the nursing workforce, uncovering the data points that have far-reaching implications for the health care system at large and for patient populations. The 2024 National Nursing Workforce Study is a biennial study conducted by NCSBN and the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers. For a copy of the complete study, visit NCSBN.org/workforce. 88% (RN) & 71% (LPN/VN) licensees actively involved in nursing, an increase over 2022. A sign employment levels have rebounded slightly. 10%-16% increase in median pre-tax annual earnings for nurses. 7.2% of nurses are Latino/Hispanic, double the percent in 2015. 138,000 nurses left the workforce since 2022.

    We were, in fact, measuring clinical judgment. The idea was could we make it better? What we tried to do was build a model in its simplicity that, no matter how you make your decisions, we could actually measure the outcomes of those decisions in the process. So, if I am a nurse taking care of a patient, I need to focus my decision-making in that moment, taking that from the bedside and making new item types. ♪ [music] ♪ The item types and the test look like real life. ♪ [music] ♪ Focus on that education because it will prepare you to pass the test.
