    From 1999 to 2016, there was an overall 24% increase in suicide rates, and as you can see on this slide not necessarily evenly distributed across all different states. Now, you know, suicide and opioids you may have seen, have tracked together. And while it's difficult to really study accurately, there is an estimate now that about 20% to 30% of opioid-related overdose deaths are likely suicides. Most people who die of an opioid-related overdose death don't necessarily leave a suicide note, but of those suicides where there is actual documentation that this is a suicide attempt, that the proportion of those suicides that involve overdoses has doubled between 1999 and 2014.
