Follow-up phone calls were made to a portion of the sampled nurses to try to establish why the re- sponse rate was so low, and what might be done to improve it .

Compare that to about the 3,000 people who want to become a lawyer in Ontario every year, the 4,000 engineering applicants, the 9,000 teaching applicants, the 10,000 would-be real estate agents, and the little over 12,000 26-year-old nursing applicants. And assuming that those 12,000 nursing applicants are no different than any other 26-year-olds and no different than other medical, dental, or law students, wow, that's going to be a lot of work.
