Patients who use opioids during pregnancy represent a diverse group, and it is important to recognize and differentiate between opioid use in the context of medical care, opioid misuse, and untreated opioid use disorder.

If a candidate must be removed from the reports for accuracy of reporting, but the correct school code is not known, a special code may be used as a placeholder in order to remove the candidate from the report. The special codes for this purpose are named "Invalid Program Code" and are specific to each licensing nursing regulatory body.
