We had some public health system, but it was not nearly what it should be. There were no clinics in any of these small villages. And Senator Stevens wanted to change all that. I went to many of the villages with him right before I went to college. He wanted to visit, see what the conditions were like. So that was a real eye-opener. After I came back from college, I got involved in the local political party. My parents had always been very involved in community issues. Well, I think that where I see things going is there being more education about the differences between the NCSBN ID and the NPI, and really more call to action and advocacy for its use by leaders. And not only that, we're already seeing by nurses practicing clinically at the bedside, and in non-clinical professional roles. So I see more advocacy, I see more use, and I see a global opportunities for this internationally. - Nancy, how about you? What's in your crystal ball? - I think I would tag on to the last comment that Whende made about international opportunities.

However, again, we see 77.5% of nurse practitioners and nurse midwives are white, non-Hispanic black is the second most common race or ethnicity in this occupation, representing about 8.72% of nurse practitioners and nurse midwives.
