Washington Enacts Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) | NCSBN
Site: ncsbn.org
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. A multistate license facilitates cross-border practice for many types of nurses who routinely practice with patients in other states, including primary care nurses, case managers, transport nurses, school and hospice nurses and many others. Further, military spouses who experience moves every few years also benefit greatly from the multistate license. For more information, contact nursecompact@ncsbn.org or visit nursecompact.com . So, Adrian, Lori Scheidt, and Mark Majek, once again, told me this is what they see as enrollments go up. So, I'll just give one example which is, let's say that typically you've got to send little postcards out to people, "Remember to renew your license." Well, you got to buy the cards, put the stamps on, print them, do whatever you need to do. And that's a lot of work. Well, let's say that you're able to essentially skip over people that have enrolled in e-Notify because you can notify them through the system or electronically.

I don't want to be the one that gives up a patient record. And that's misused some way. So I really unless I get a court order or consent, I don't release nothing because I don't want to be the person that does it wrong. ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 3 And I've got to know the laws of confidentiality to know which cards I play to keep it confidential. But if it's public, boom, you got it. And we get public records requests all the time. Can we get the public record request on this individual? One page, licensed, no discipline.
