And it really is helpful in being able to say to your legislators, or whoever you're talking to, "This is the evidence for what we're doing." And that's online on our website. But also, I do have paper copies if anybody needs any, just email me, and I'm happy to send it to you. So we did all of that research, and felt really good about those quality indicators. But then what do you do? Do you just report it in the article, and who reads it?

    That is quite an accomplishment. There's not another healthcare profession that has such a rich source of data. And as David mentioned to some of us yesterday, I think the integrity of the data continues to get better and better as we move along with this. So, it's on the NCSBN website. I'd welcome you to, you know, try it out, take a whirl of imaginary trip through and see what nursing regulation is like in other states, and provinces, and countries. 2020 has been designated by the World Health Organization as the year of the nurse and the year of the midwife.

    NCSBN was a national leader in launching its compact as a professional licensing model in health care, and while our compacts may be different, we are united in the advocacy for state-based license portability solutions. In a final note, the FSMB recently released its latest national physician census, our fifth since we began the process in 2010. The census, which can be downloaded from our website, is conducted every two years and includes the most comprehensive data about physician licensure available. A few facts, this year's census reveals that there are now nearly 1 million licensed U.S. physicians, DOs and MDs, and a 16% increase since we reported these statistics.

    The Board discussed the nursing education approval authority of Member Boards and competency based education programs. An update was provided to the Board regarding the proposed outcome study of Excelsior graduates. G.16. Discuss NCSBN – NLCA Relationship The Board reviewed and discussed the intent and possible outcome of the May 26-27, 2009 meeting with the NLCA Executive Committee. The Board agrees that the ultimate goal is to support a unified organization and effective implementation of the two licensure models. The Board believes it is important to ensure collaboration and cooperation.
