Tish was serving her second term on the Nevada State Board of Nursing. She was a wonderful board member who truly believed in the board’s mission to protect the public. She will be greatly missed. Susan VanBeuge Joins Nevada State Board of Nursing Susan VanBeuge, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CNE, FAANP, was recently appointed to the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

    They can invite physicians, physiotherapy, their colleagues that they work with that they would like some feedback from who's observed them, you know, meeting their standards and doing their work. So we are in implementation with this now. I'm going to show you a video shortly of how it works and this is a video on our website to help nurses understand what they need to do. And then we will roll this out over a 5-year cycle because with 40,000 registrants, we're starting out with 7,000-ish this year. We're in the middle of that now. And then we will have a five-year cycle.

    And so, therefore, her claim for damages from a public entity regardless of her entitlement to damages under other provisions of the New Jersey Tort Claims Act failed. She had not followed the prescribed notice of claim requirements. And that is where the case ends in 2017.     And we named it the "Nurse Worklife and Wellness Study" because we were reaching out to nurses for their opinions and information, and that just seemed like a more accessible way of framing the whole issue. So that's the reason for that. I want to acknowledge my team members and co-authors. It's a mix of faculty colleagues, and also Ph.D. students. And we have a website that has many of the products that we produced over the years. And no doubt, many through NCSBN sponsorship and others. So I have the QR code and a little link for that if that interests you for later on. Some background on this problem. We first looked at substance use in nurses years ago when I was 12, in the Nurse Worklife and Health study.

    Nurse Williston advertised and represented herself as practicing a birthing center, and under Missouri law, that requires a physician or CNM in collaboration with one. And again, I told you earlier that she didn't have a collaborative practice agreement, and we'll get into that in just a little bit later. The court also said that she identified herself as a CNM on the website. Mother, in fact, testified in the case that she had seen that advertising on the website and that it influenced her in choosing nurse Williston. The aforementioned consent agreement and financial agreement, both of those things identified nurse Williston by her nursing credentials, and even the progress notes that nurse Williston maintained throughout this case reflected that she was a CNM.
