I know we talked about a Leena before. This is not that Leena. And this is a patient of mine. Her name is changed. And I just want to introduce you to her as a little bit of a case study that I hope will carry through this presentation and maybe also into tomorrow. Leena is 26 years old. And is there anything that pops off the screen in your mind when you just look at that very brief description of her from a regulation perspective? Anything freak you out there? Thank you. What... [inaudible] Yeah. What is a 26-year-old doing as a DON?

So, when we went to the literature, some of what really emerged was of course, all patients are vulnerable, there's a power differential between them and their practitioners, but we also identified particular kinds of clients who were vulnerable to healthcare serial killers. Certainly the elderly, young children, particularly children who have yet to develop speech, and also patients who were, I guess, assumed to be dying. They were about to die, and therefore, that seemed to ©2020 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 4 be an opportunity for the healthcare serial killer to murder. And then, because there wasn't going to be the same oversights, for example autopsy, this was really an opportunity, it seemed, for the murderer.
