The REx-PN Practical Nurse Examination Committee has the ultimate oversight responsibility for the REx-PN examination. The committee is composed of nursing regulators within British Columbia and Ontario. For additional information about item writing and item review, please visit the ncsbn.org website to access the webinars. During the next few slides, I will talk about how we maintain the REx-PN exam item development. REx-PN maintenance includes pool rotation, item reviews, and content currency. Pool rotation involves following an item pool delivery schedule to reduce the risk of overexposure.

ORBS License Verification Portal Overview Your ORBS License Verification Portal provides Primary Source License Verification to the public with the ability to view license information for board of nursing licenses, including license statuses and related discipline information. The public will have access to the ORBS License Verification Portal via the Board of Nursing’s website just like other various portals such as the Nurse Portal, Complaint Portal or the Affidavit of Graduation Portal. The ORBS License Verification Portal shall display current license information from your ORBS Back Office. Note: The Board will have the ability to configure the display name of the License Verification tool (License Verification License Lookup, etc.)

This leads me to another significant resource I have participated here in NCSBN. My mentor guided me and strongly encouraged me to explore the ICRS courses, specifically the certificate program. She had recently completed the program and sung its praises. According to the NCSBN website, ICRS provides community, connection, and knowledge that will push your career in regulation to the next level. It is a competency-based, interactive, online and blended courses of study. ICRS will not only enhance your regulatory knowledge, it will provide networking with colleagues and expand your skills as a regulator.

However, if your ability is close to the passing standard, a longer exam will be administered to gather more information for an accurate pass/fail decision. To ensure content validity, the REx-PN CAT exam adheres to specified percentages for content distribution outlined in the REx-PN test plan. For more details about the REx-PN test plan, please visit the REx-PN website. The CAT algorithms manage the distribution of items by content area specification. This means that whether you take a minimum length exam or I take the maximum length exam, our exams will have the same content area distribution. At this point, you might be wondering how this is possible.
