In other words, most program failures occurred within the first three years of participation in the program. This figure shows that the percent of nurses successfully completing a program distinctly correlates with the number of times she or he is selected for a drug test. It also shows that after 26 tests per year, roughly twice a month, there does not seem to be much of an increase in the percent who successfully completed the program. This suggests that establishing a twice a month random selection for drug testing as a program standard would be highly effective.

To me, that endangers the patient, and it is all about quality patient care, that we start there. And I know that those who are proponents of staff ratios are saying it's about quality patient care. But I'm thinking that we still need the leadership of on-site people who are making decisions on a day-to-day basis about, what is the situation here? So if you're going to put them in, have your escape clause in there somewhere that says that it really is up to those who are monitoring the day-to-day situation that goes on. - Well, what I would add is, spending a lot of my time in front of legislative committees, giving testimony to legislators, the last people on earth I want doing staffing ratios for nurses is legislators.

During this time, the coalition held a press conference in the Capitol rotunda on Florida Nurses Association's Nurses Day, which will play a clip from in a moment. For the remainder of legislative session. The coalition ensured that nursing groups were on site every day at the Capitol, creating a sea of white quotes with our coalition-branded stickers, which were similar to the presence that had been created by the firefighters during the 2019 session. This strategy proved effective not only to demonstrate a strong presence within the capital but also allowed for many opportunities for lawmakers to hear from the nurses in their districts about this important issue.

If people trust that they're being treated fairly within a [00:25:30] process, if they can trust that the process is fair, they're much more likely to agree or at least, you know, abide by the decision that comes out of that process, whether or not they agree with it or not, right? So, just a lack of legitimacy in some ways to what we do. And then, sort of, another from the outside, there is societal stigma that [00:26:00] comes with having a criminal record, right? So, a lot of that, the messages that people get in terms of, "Oh, you're a felon. You shouldn't even try now. Don't even bother." You know, "I want to be a nurse." "Ah, why would you bother? You're a felon," right?

All rights reserved. 4 While the most common reportable workplace behaviors or issues remained largely unchanged upon follow up, there was a net gain of 10 percentage points or more among those who would now also report issues of diversion, you'll see that was up nearly 32%, reckless behavior, up 26%, termination, up 24%, and standard of care violations, now up 13%. For most other workplace incidents, there were more limited gains or decreases observed. Overall, after using the AEDP tool for several months, approximately 7 in 10 respondents now indicated their facility would report a nurse whose employment was terminated due to their role in a serious adverse event.

If we're having to get an interpreter on the phone to help guide them through the application process, I would dread to think what it would be like in a pressured speech or comprehension situation, like in an emergency. And I would just say that it is about safety. And I understand that it adds another layer, but that layer is important when it comes to safety. - Thank you. Microphone number two. - [Elizabeth] Good morning. Elizabeth de Leon-Gamboa from the state of Nevada. So I, too, am an immigrant from the Philippines, and I too had to take that TOEFL, which was nerve wracking to me. And although one of our colleagues said, "Maybe we can do away with it," because it was amusing for some sort.
